P- WHINING WARRIORS? NOPE!

"You can't win if you are whining.

At some point you have to give up your right to a pity party.

Don't look for sympathy, look to be empowered.

Spiritual warriors are people who can get up,

dust themselves down and get on with it.

They're fighters. They're not looking for rescue.

They are looking for a side of God

that they know only really exists on the battlefield."

Theresa Phillips: Prophetic Words Over America: I Will Love You To Life!

Theresa Phillips: Prophetic Words Over America: I Will Love You To Life!

    Theresa Phillips

"Dear Church, I have to tell you a mystery!" says the Lord. "I am developing an army of Believers from all across the nation of America to carry the burden of the nation.
"This band of warriors will be sought out by Me in dreams, visions, and supernatural encounters. Many will receive the mandate while in worship and in intimate prayer. The love for their nation will grow.
"Yes, dear America, I am cherishing you even now,"says the Lord of Hosts. "I wept and broke when you despised your land, when you said I had cursed it, for I never cursed America; I love America! Remember, you are still ONE NATION UNDER GOD!

(God speaks a word to each of the 5 Fold ministry gifts to the Body:
Here is one example:
"Unto My prophets, those who are known and those who are not, remember, good conquers evil. Never let momentum of the punishment of evildoers become your focus. Focus on the abundance of Life. I will desire to produce life – it is in your tongue. In your tongue!"
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
"I smell the wine presses making the fruit. Wine, fine wine. Because you have been put to the press for some time. NOW I am releasing to many of the prophets a FRESH NEW FLAVOR of joy and hope to ALL the people. Love to life! (Photo via RentVine.com)
"For a long time you have endured so much, prophets; yes, I know. But you will see; you will see the mystery in your own life. No longer will it bother you, for I am healing many of you NOW!" says the Lord.

BOOK REVIEW: SILENCED

Another story about the McKenna family, in this continuing Alaskan Courage Series.  This one is focused mainly on Kayden McKenna; an athletic, mountain climbing expert.  Outgoing, adventurous, bold and in control when it comes to sports and the out of doors.  But when it comes to people she is closed up, but still totally in control of her emotions instead.  On a fun day of climbing, she finds a dead climber and it starts to look like this accident was a murder instead.  Jake, a friend of the family has been in love with Kayden for some time now but he has some dark memories himself.

I have read several of the books in the Alaskan Courage Series and really liked them. I was so hoping that I would really like this one as well.  It didn't disappoint.  Loved the characters  and the follow up with the McKenna family was sweet to read too.  There were many twists and turns when it came to the mystery of who killed the climber and also who was coming after Kaydan and Jake. The romantic pull between Kayden and Jake was good too.   I thought the whole story was well written.

I received a FREE copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

*RE-READ-IT HAS TO BE YOU

"You are going to have to grow

 if

you want to live with God at (high) altitude

 because at high altitude

you must learn to walk at a pace

that you can actually sustain.

At high altitude you have to do everything for yourself.

So high altitude, spiritually,

becomes solely about your personal sensitivity

 to the Holy Spirit.

No one can do it for you.

It has to be your walk.

It has to be your worship.

It has to be your faith,

and it has to be your relationship with the Holy Spirit.

You can't borrow stuff from other people

like you did in the valley

because the way life worked in the valley

does not work on the mountain.

 It has to be you."

P-Difficulties R Training

"Everything you are passing through right now is a

learning opportunity.

We need to stop treating life's difficulties as though

they shouldn't be happening to us.

 They are training.

They are a really important part of who you are.

God allows in His wisdom what He could easily prevent

 by His power.

The darker the situation, and the more problematic

 the circumstances,

and the more difficult the things we have to go through,

the reward on those things is substantially greater."

the best teacher he ever had in life

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he did not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant.

It got to the point where Mrs. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... he is a joy to be around.."

His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."

His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class."

By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper That he got from a grocery bag Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume.. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs. Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to." After the children left, she cried for at least an hour.

On that very day, she quit teaching reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets.."

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling* her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs. Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer.... The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom.

Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for* believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you."

(For you that don't know, Teddy Stoddard is the Dr. at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing.)

Hillsong - You Are More (Lyrics) HQ

My favorite parts of this song:

CHORUS:
You are more than
My words could ever say
You are Lord over all
Over all of my days
I will see this season through
I will fix my eyes on You
Only You
Only You

BRIDGE:
Hallelujah
The earth will sing
May Your name be glorified
Hallelujah
The earth will sing
May Your name be glorified

*Hillsong UNITED Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) Lyric Video

Just Parts of the song:

SPIRIT lead me where my trust is without borders,
Let me walk upon the waters,
Wherever you would call me.
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
and my faith will be made stronger,
in the presence of my savior.

I will call upon your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in your embrace
I am yours and you are mine.

How to use the sun to improve eyesight and boost immunity - NaturalNews.com

Could have Benefits!!   Wonder if it really works?

NaturalNews) It is common knowledge in alternative medical circles that the sun,
far from being the enemy to health that Western medicine
has made it out to be, is really our best friend when
it comes to health, healing, immunity and even strengthening
 our eyesight.
 How can this be?
Well, in this article we're going to learn a simply eye exercise
that only takes a few seconds to do each morning and evening.

As author Daniel Reid write is his fantastic book The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity p. 247:

"The key factor in heliotherapy is the invisible ultraviolet band,

and the key receptor is the retina.
A layer of cells called the epithelial cells become
highly neuro-active when exposed to ultraviolet radiation,
without in any way affecting vision.
While the visible bands of light excite the retina's rods
and cones to produce vision, the invisible ultraviolet band
stimulates the adjacent epithelial cells, which transmit the stimulus
as a powerful neural Impulse through the optic nerve
directly to the pituitary and pineal glands.
Western medicine calls this newly discovered biosystem the 'oculo-edocrine system', but the mechanism has been known to Taoists for ages. The discovery has spawned a new branch of western science known as 'photobiology.'"

The Chinese have known about the sun and its power to heal,

rejuvenate and prolong life for millennia now.
This is why they made sure to get out in the sun
and even practiced certain exercises which
involved actually looking toward the sun but not directly at it.
They did this in the early morning and late afternoon each day
BEFORE 9 am and AFTER 4 pm when the sun was beginning to get stronger and weaker.
They never did it between the hours of
9 am to 4 pm, because the sun is too strong and eye damage could occur.

The Sun Blinking Exercise, A.K.A. "Administering Sunbeams"

The first exercise is done by looking around the sun

at the four points of the compass and
blinking the eyes rapidly for 3-5 seconds.
Look once to the north of the sun about a 15-degree angle above it
while blinking the eyes for 3-5 seconds,
then to the right (east), then below it (south) and
finally to the left (west) of the sun itself.
Again, don't look directly at it,
since the part of the retina that we want to irrigate with the UV rays
and other rays from the sun exist on the side of the eyes, not in the center.
This also helps prevent any damage to the eyes themselves,
which is why it's done before 9am and after 4pm
in the evening when the sun is not too strong,
but the amount of UV rays is quite sufficient to result in significant benefits.

The second exercise is a bit more advanced.

Following the same rules as the previous exercise,
were going to roll our eyes around the sun for 3-5 seconds clockwise,
then pause, look away for a few seconds, then repeat
the roll in the opposite direction, counter-clockwise.
This method provides a more complete irrigation of the retina with UV radiation. Just be careful not to let the eyes look directly AT the sun
as you move the eyes around it.

At first, these exercises might cause your eyes to water or throb. That is due to the epithelial cells being without sufficient UV rays for so long, as well as possible atrophy of the eye muscles, which is one reason that I like the eye rolling exercises the most, which have other benefits to vision by themselves.

Funnny-Walmart Banning

Occupy Portland -on Facebook

Dear Mrs. Woolf,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Woolf, are listed below and are "documented by our video surveillance cameras":

1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5- minute intervals.

3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted in management getting involved causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to reserve a bag of chips.

6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers they could come in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department - to which twenty children obliged.

8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' Emergency Medics were called.

9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. September

10: While handling guns in the Sports department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme.

12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels.

13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed the fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!

15. Took a box of condoms to the checkout clerk and asked where the fitting room was. And last, but not least:

16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the Staff passed out.

BOOK REVIEW:SHADOW HAND

A fantasy story of unknown lands and three people who are the center of the whole story.  Lady Daylily, handsome former king Lionheart who had everything good in front of him until he screwed everything up. Then there is  Prince Foxbrush, who is now the next King; although he feels anything but prepared for this role.  Everything really hits the fan on the wedding day of Daylily and Foxbrush; everything is about to change.

I really liked this book; the people were well written and easy to relate to. The story itself was well woven, with many different things happening but not in a way that was hard to follow.   Nobody and I mean nobody is exactly as they seem.  They have hidden depths and  some have hidden agendas that don't come out until the end of the story.  There are twists and turns throughout the story. Some might consider this a slight spolier but I was pulling for Prince Foxbrush as I read, even though he started out as a timid, kind of spineless character in the beginning; but keep reading and watch him grow.

I received a FREE copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

*SEASON OF THE OWLS

SELAH MINISTRIES
In 2010 Ray and I were at a conference in Washington state and at the end of the meeting a lady walked up to us and handed us a greeting card, there wasn’t anything written on the inside but there was a picture of a baby owl on the front. She said she didn’t know why she bought it but when she saw it she thought of us and felt like she was supposed to give it to us.
Initially I didn’t think much about it until the next day when we went out to lunch with some of the local leaders. As we were eating, talking and visiting, a stranger sitting a few tables over heard us talking and knew we were from somewhere in the south. There were just a few minutes of conversation with him about where we were from, then we all went back to talking to our own group. The man got up to leave and Ray waved goodbye to him. A few minutes later this man came walking back in and walked up to Ray and handed him a handmade walking stick, a cane that he had carved four small owls in to. He said “I just wanted to give this to you, I think you are supposed to have it.” Then he turned around and left. We said “Well, this is getting interesting. Is the Lord trying to say something here to us about owls?”
We flew home after the conference and when we pulled up in our driveway there was an owl sitting on our mailbox. Ok we knew something was up for sure then. I started researching owls on the Internet and there was a lot of interesting facts about owls that I knew could be applied spiritually. They are the only bird that have eyes positioned on the front of their head instead of on the side of their head like other birds. This allows them to see like humans with binocular vision, they see with both eyes at the same time, seeing the same thing but from two different perspectives.  Because of this they have great depth perception. They are able to see clearly even on the darkest night. Their ears are situated unevenly on the sides of their head,  one higher than the other. Because of this placement they can judge the  distance of objects accurately, by the time it takes the sound of movement to reach each ear separately. As I was researching, a movie trailer came up and was advertising and announcing a new movie that was being made but wasn’t coming out until next year. The name of the movie was “The Guardians of the Legend, the Owls of Gahool” (I will be writing about this movie and its significance also) I thought it was interesting that the movie wasn’t coming out until the next year and the owls that had been given to us and that we had seen were all baby owls. As if the fullness or timing of the coming of the owls was not here yet or they were still young and not fully mature.
In January 2014 I had a dream about snowy white owls. The dream was very simple, I just saw a lot of snowy white owls flying and landing and I heard the words A New Song. When I woke up that morning I went to my computer and typed in snowy white owls and was astonished to see several news clips about hundreds of white owls that had flown 3000 miles from the arctic tundra and were landing all up and down the east coast. Two had landed in a field on His Song Road.
Owls are known for a few things that are important for this time.
One…they have always been associated with wisdom. (A wise old owl)
Two…foreseeing the future.
The native Americans have always believed when they saw or heard an owl it was telling them something specific was about to happen. Usually a death. Many cultures believe the owl is a sign or omen. Or it was telling them something of the future. In other words a seer.
A seer coupled with wisdom.
Bob Jones went to be with The Lord on February 14 2014. I know Bob was a great prophet and the eagle has always represented the prophet but Bob was a seer too and I believe the owl represents the seer anointing. At Bobs passing I heard the question many times,  who do you think will get Bobs mantle? Of course no one knew but some felt like it wouldn’t go to just one man but to many individuals that The Lord had been preparing. I think that is why hundreds of snowy white owls have come to rest on the coast where a great white haired eagle/owl (prophet/seer) has gone on home and his mantle is being disbursed to many for the great end time harvest and the billion souls that Bob saw and foretold about.

*NAMES OF GOD

My thinking out loud:
Why so many names? Could it be that there is so much to our great big God, that it takes many parts to His name to begin to describe Him & Who is to and for us? His nature, His charachter cannot be contained!!! Sometimes we need to call out to Him as (for example) Jehovah Shalom- for His peace to show up in our lives esp. when we need that. The Bible says, to call on His name....hmmm...maybe I need to be more specific (more often) on which of His names I call on.
P.S. a good reminder to myself.

Summer Sprigs Lace Shawl

Crochetme

Author

Esther Chandler

Introduction

This pretty lace weight scarf is perfect for warmer days.  It’s made from a single skein of yarn, and the main pattern is an easy one row repeat.
I chose the name Summer Sprigs Lace for this scarf because I think the main stitch pattern looks a bit like little buds on twigs.
The scarf is worked in decreasing rows and then the edging is added once the main portion is complete.  No seams!

This project would also work in dk and a size 4mm hook for a summer shawl.  I’m not sure how much yarn that would take though – if you try it let me know!

Materials List

·         400m (437yards) lace weight yarn (I used Rowan fine lace – a lovely soft mix of baby alpaca and merino wool)
·         2.00mm crochet hook (or size need to get gauge)
·         St markers (optional)

·         Blocking materials

Finished Size

Finished scarf was 146cm long and 26cm wide pre blocking, and 166cm long and 34cm wide post blocking.

Gauge

2.5 repeats of main sprig pattern to 10cms.  Gauge is not critical to this project, but if yours is larger it may mean you need an extra ball of yarn.

The Pattern

You can find this pattern along with many more at Make My Day Creative:

*WELCOMED

"not one of them is forgotten before God...." (Luke 12:6)

"Not being welcome is your greatest fear. It connects with your birth fear, your fear of not being welcome in this life, and your death fear, your fear of not being welcome in the life after this. It is the deep-seated fear that it would have been better if you had not lived" (Nouwen). The message of the gospel is - above all else - an invitation, a cry of welcome, that sings out to you in your loneliness and shame. The core of the battle is here - whether you will decide to trust in God's love or shrink back into the places of darkness, isolation, and pain. Yeshua says, "Come to me; I love you, I accept you; I receive you; please, be welcome with me; I will take your hand, I will be with you..."

*30 Things To Start Doing For Yourself.

 Alex Goh Chun Seong
LIFE BUZZ-30 Things To Start Doing For Yourself.

Marc and Angel are the authors of 1000 Little Things Happy Successful People Do Differently. Here’s their amazing list of 30 things to start doing for yourself. If you enjoy this, be sure to visit their website for more inspirational advice and tips for life.
#1. Start spending time with the right people. – These are the people you enjoy, who love and appreciate you, and who encourage you to improve in healthy and exciting ways. They are the ones who make you feel more alive, and not only embrace who you are now, but also embrace and embody who you want to be, unconditionally.
#2 . Start facing your problems head on. – It isn’t your problems that define you, but how you react to them and recover from them. Problems will not disappear unless you take action. Do what you can, when you can, and acknowledge what you’ve done. It’s all about taking baby steps in the right direction, inch by inch. These inches count, they add up to yards and miles in the long run.
#3. Start being honest with yourself about everything. – Be honest about what’s right, as well as what needs to be changed. Be honest about what you want to achieve and who you want to become. Be honest with every aspect of your life, always. Because you are the one person you can forever count on. Search your soul, for the truth, so that you truly know who you are. Once you do, you’ll have a better understanding of where you are now and how you got here, and you’ll be better equipped to identify where you want to go and how to get there. Read The Road Less Traveled.
#4. Start making your own happiness a priority. – Your needs matter. If you don’t value yourself, look out for yourself, and stick up for yourself, you’re sabotaging yourself. Remember, it IS possible to take care of your own needs while simultaneously caring for those around you. And once your needs are met, you will likely be far more capable of helping those who need you most.
#5. Start being yourself, genuinely and proudly. – Trying to be anyone else is a waste of the person you are. Be yourself. Embrace that individual inside you that has ideas, strengths and beauty like no one else. Be the person you know yourself to be – the best version of you – on your terms. Above all, be true to YOU, and if you cannot put your heart in it, take yourself out of it.
#6. Start noticing and living in the present. – Right now is a miracle. Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. So stop thinking about how great things will be in the future. Stop dwelling on what did or didn’t happen in the past. Learn to be in the ‘here and now’ and experience life as it’s happening. Appreciate the world for the beauty that it holds, right now.
#7. Start valuing the lessons your mistakes teach you. – Mistakes are okay; they’re the stepping stones of progress. If you’re not failing from time to time, you’re not trying hard enough and you’re not learning. Take risks, stumble, fall, and then get up and try again. Appreciate that you are pushing yourself, learning, growing and improving. Significant achievements are almost invariably realized at the end of a long road of failures. One of the ‘mistakes’ you fear might just be the link to your greatest achievement yet.
#8. Start being more polite to yourself. – If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend? The way you treat yourself sets the standard for others. You must love who you are or no one else will.
#9. Start enjoying the things you already have. – The problem with many of us is that we think we’ll be happy when we reach a certain level in life – a level we see others operating at – your boss with her corner office, that friend of a friend who owns a mansion on the beach, etc. Unfortunately, it takes awhile before you get there, and when you get there you’ll likely have a new destination in mind. You’ll end up spending your whole life working toward something new without ever stopping to enjoy the things you have now. So take a quiet moment every morning when you first awake to appreciate where you are and what you already have.
#10. Start creating your own happiness. – If you are waiting for someone else to make you happy, you’re missing out. Smile because you can. Choose happiness. Be the change you want to see in the world. Be happy with who you are now, and let your positivity inspire your journey into tomorrow. Happiness is often found when and where you decide to seek it. If you look for happiness within the opportunities you have, you will eventually find it. But if you constantly look for something else, unfortunately, you’ll find that too. Read Stumbling on Happiness.
#11. Start giving your ideas and dreams a chance. – In life, it’s rarely about getting a chance; it’s about taking a chance. You’ll never be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work. Most of the time you just have to go for it! And no matter how it turns out, it always ends up just the way it should be. Either you succeed or you learn something. Win-Win.
#12. Start believing that you’re ready for the next step. – You are ready! Think about it. You have everything you need right now to take the next small, realistic step forward. So embrace the opportunities that come your way, and accept the challenges – they’re gifts that will help you to grow.
#13. Start entering new relationships for the right reasons. – Enter new relationships with dependable, honest people who reflect the person you are and the person you want to be. Choose friends you are proud to know, people you admire, who show you love and respect – people who reciprocate your kindness and commitment. And pay attention to what people do, because a person’s actions are much more important than their words or how others represent them.
#14. Start giving new people you meet a chance. – It sounds harsh, but you cannot keep every friend you’ve ever made. People and priorities change. As some relationships fade others will grow. Appreciate the possibility of new relationships as you naturally let go of old ones that no longer work. Trust your judgment. Embrace new relationships, knowing that you are entering into unfamiliar territory. Be ready to learn, be ready for a challenge, and be ready to meet someone that might just change your life forever.
#15. Start competing against an earlier version of yourself. – Be inspired by others, appreciate others, learn from others, but know that competing against them is a waste of time. You are in competition with one person and one person only – yourself. You are competing to be the best you can be. Aim to break your own personal records.

#16. Start cheering for other people’s victories. – Start noticing what you like about others and tell them. Having an appreciation for how amazing the people around you are leads to good places – productive, fulfilling, peaceful places. So be happy for those who are making progress. Cheer for their victories. Be thankful for their blessings, openly. What goes around comes around, and sooner or later the people you’re cheering for will start cheering for you.
#17. Start looking for the silver lining in tough situations. – When things are hard, and you feel down, take a few deep breaths and look for the silver lining – the small glimmers of hope. Remind yourself that you can and will grow stronger from these hard times. And remain conscious of your blessings and victories – all the things in your life that are right. Focus on what you have, not on what you haven’t.
#18. Start forgiving yourself and others. – We’ve all been hurt by our own decisions and by others. And while the pain of these experiences is normal, sometimes it lingers for too long. We relive the pain over and over and have a hard time letting go. Forgiveness is the remedy. It doesn’t mean you’re erasing the past, or forgetting what happened. It means you’re letting go of the resentment and pain, and instead choosing to learn from the incident and move on with your life.
#19. Start helping those around you. – Care about people. Guide them if you know a better way. The more you help others, the more they will want to help you. Love and kindness begets love and kindness. And so on and so forth.
#20. Start listening to your own inner voice. – If it helps, discuss your ideas with those closest to you, but give yourself enough room to follow your own intuition. Be true to yourself. Say what you need to say. Do what you know in your heart is right.
#21. Start being attentive to your stress level and take short breaks. – Slow down. Breathe. Give yourself permission to pause, regroup and move forward with clarity and purpose. When you’re at your busiest, a brief recess can rejuvenate your mind and increase your productivity. These short breaks will help you regain your sanity and reflect on your recent actions so you can be sure they’re in line with your goals.
#22. Start noticing the beauty of small moments. – Instead of waiting for the big things to happen – marriage, kids, big promotion, winning the lottery – find happiness in the small things that happen every day. Little things like having a quiet cup of coffee in the early morning, or the delicious taste and smell of a homemade meal, or the pleasure of sharing something you enjoy with someone else, or holding hands with your partner. Noticing these small pleasures on a daily basis makes a big difference in the quality of your life.
#23. Start accepting things when they are less than perfect. – Remember, ‘perfect’ is the enemy of ‘good.’ One of the biggest challenges for people who want to improve themselves and improve the world is learning to accept things as they are. Sometimes it’s better to accept and appreciate the world as it is, and people as they are, rather than to trying to make everything and everyone conform to an impossible ideal. No, you shouldn’t accept a life of mediocrity, but learn to love and value things when they are less than perfect.
#24. Start working toward your goals every single day. – Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Whatever it is you dream about, start taking small, logical steps every day to make it happen. Get out there and DO something! The harder you work the luckier you will become. While many of us decide at some point during the course of our lives that we want to answer our calling, only an astute few of us actually work on it. By ‘working on it,’ I mean consistently devoting oneself to the end result. Read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
#25. Start being more open about how you feel. – If you’re hurting, give yourself the necessary space and time to hurt, but be open about it. Talk to those closest to you. Tell them the truth about how you feel. Let them listen. The simple act of getting things off your chest and into the open is your first step toward feeling good again.
#26. Start taking full accountability for your own life. – Own your choices and mistakes, and be willing to take the necessary steps to improve upon them. Either you take accountability for your life or someone else will. And when they do, you’ll become a slave to their ideas and dreams instead of a pioneer of your own. You are the only one who can directly control the outcome of your life. And no, it won’t always be easy. Every person has a stack of obstacles in front of them. But you must take accountability for your situation and overcome these obstacles. Choosing not to is choosing a lifetime of mere existence.
#27. Start actively nurturing your most important relationships. – Bring real, honest joy into your life and the lives of those you love by simply telling them how much they mean to you on a regular basis. You can’t be everything to everyone, but you can be everything to a few people. Decide who these people are in your life and treat them like royalty. Remember, you don’t need a certain number of friends, just a number of friends you can be certain of.
#28. Start concentrating on the things you can control. – You can’t change everything, but you can always change something. Wasting your time, talent and emotional energy on things that are beyond your control is a recipe for frustration, misery and stagnation. Invest your energy in the things you can control, and act on them now.
#29. Start focusing on the possibility of positive outcomes. – The mind must believe it CAN do something before it is capable of actually doing it. The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful. Listen to your self-talk and replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Regardless of how a situation seems, focus on what you DO WANT to happen, and then take the next positive step forward. No, you can’t control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you react to things. Everyone’s life has positive and negative aspects – whether or not you’re happy and successful in the long run depends greatly on which aspects you focus on. Read The How of Happiness.
#30. Start noticing how wealthy you are right now. – Henry David Thoreau once said, “Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” Even when times are tough, it’s always important to keep things in perspective. You didn’t go to sleep hungry last night. You didn’t go to sleep outside. You had a choice of what clothes to wear this morning. You hardly broke a sweat today. You didn’t spend a minute in fear. You have access to clean drinking water. You have access to medical care. You have access to the Internet. You can read. Some might say you are incredibly wealthy, so remember to be grateful for all the things you do have.
