Nearing Home by Billy Graham - Its okay but slightly depressing .

Nearing Home: Life, Faith and Finishing Well” by Billy Graham.

As the title suggests Billy Graham is writing about looking at how we finish our race. He has given many wisdom's about dealing with limitations that this part of life can bring. Also included are wise preparations that people need to look at and not just ignore. Some of these things are spiritual inheritances that we want to leave to the next generations but also practical financial and daily living matters. Although its written with these things in mind; Billy Graham also brings younger people into the picture and includes stories and insights to benefit them as well. And of course he also writes passionately about the need for Jesus Christ /Salvation. Not to just know about Jesus but to model our lives upon that example.

Those who are older in age would probably benefit the most by this book. But I also believe that there is something for the younger as well. In one section he points out that our instant technological society with all its gizmo's while its a plus in some ways; its also made “Patience a lost virtue”. I hadn’t really heard it expressed quite that way before. And if you are a follower of what Billy Graham has accomplished through following Jesus, it would be a worthy addition to your Library. I liked that fact that scripture was placed strategically in his writings. On that note, I do have to admit there were times, I also felt that it was kind of depressing. I’m trying to be fair though; so that might have had more to do with the subject matter and which side of the age issue I’m on.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255

Word Flesh

Creflo Dollar

Since God is the Word and Jesus is the Word made flesh, it makes sense that meditating on the Scriptures infuses us with the spiritual power we need to do supernatural things.

Stability is Important for Leaders

joyce_bio_en.jpgNotes from  August 2011  Enjoying Everyday Life Magazine
    By Joyce Meyer

from Leader's Edge: Are you an Emotional Yo-Yo?
(Bits & pieces of the Article)
At the time I felt that everything in my life was caving in on me.  there were problems at the office,
problems in the home, problems everywhere I looked.
I thought, I want to get out of here!
( She wanted to run away)  But I knew I shouldn't do that because I am a leader, and leaders do not run away from things they don't like.  They stay & deal with them- because they have stability, aka self-control.

Before we talk about why stability is important, let's define it.
Webster's II New College Dictionary defines
stability as l. Resistance to sudden change, dislodgement, or overthrow.
2. a. Constancy of character or purpose: STEADFASTNESS b. Reliability, dependability."

If you have stability, you do what is right when it feels good & when it doesn't feel good- you pray when you feel like it AND you pray when you don't feel like it.  You give despite your feelings- and you give not just when you want to give, but what God is encouraging you to give.

According to the scripture Galatians 5:22-23 ( The Amplified Bible gives it more meaning) self control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.  If you want to be a leader, you  must be able to control yourself.
Leaders have to discipline themselves & stay in control.  They have to be able to recognize when they are going in the wrong direction & make the appropriate corrections themselves without someone else having to do it for them.

Anyone can acquire stability; it is not limited to those in ministry.  In the end, its imperative not only for a good leader but for every person to develop stability because God wants to do more with your life than you could ever imagine.

**** I recommend you try to look up & read the rest of the article if possible.
